2026 State of the Game

Two branches matter in 2026:

Build 41.78.16 stable — the production-grade branch most multiplayer servers still run. Mature mod ecosystem, predictable performance.
Build 42 unstable — reached 42.17 in April 2026 with sprinters in multiplayer, 7 new spawn towns, wound infection fix, and occupation balance changes. WIP, stress-test only, requires whitelisted servers and player counts at or below 20 per The Indie Stone's recommendation.

The Indie Stone has described themselves as "in the final charge" for the B42 stable release but has not committed to a date. If you're spinning up a community server in 2026, default to B41 unless your group specifically wants the new content.
