Project Zomboid: Brita's Weapon & Armor Pack Server Setup Guide (Build 41)

Project Zomboid: Brita's Weapon & Armor Pack Server Setup

Brita's Weapon Pack and Brita's Armor Pack are two of the most-subscribed firearm and gear overhauls on the Project Zomboid Steam Workshop, created by BRITA (with Arsenal[26]). This guide covers the correct Workshop IDs, Mod IDs, dependencies, and load order needed to install them on a dedicated server, and explains their current Build 41 status.

Build compatibility: read this first

Both packs are Build 41 mods. They are not compatible with Build 42. The author's Workshop description states that many of the methods the mods rely on were shut down and disabled by Build 42. If you want to run Brita's packs, set your server to the Build 41 (b41) branch in Steam.

The two packs

Brita's Weapon Pack

  • Workshop ID: 2200148440
  • Mod ID: Brita
  • Author: BRITA / Arsenal[26]
  • What it adds: a large library of real-world firearms, attachments (sights, suppressors, grips, magazines), multiple calibers of ammunition, and weapon cleaning and repair items.

Brita's Armor Pack

  • Workshop ID: 2460154811
  • Mod ID: Brita_2
  • Author: BRITA (with Arsenal[26])
  • What it adds: body armor, plate carriers, vests, helmets, and tactical clothing with their own protection and weight values.

The two packs are independent. Brita's Armor Pack does not require Brita's Weapon Pack, and the Weapon Pack does not require the Armor Pack. You can install either one on its own.

Dependencies

Brita's mods are not standalone. Plan for these supporting mods before you install:

  • Mod Options (Workshop ID 2169435993, Mod ID ModOptions) - provides the in-game options menu that Brita's Weapon Pack uses to expose its settings in single player. On a dedicated server the mod's options are set through Sandbox settings instead, but keeping Mod Options installed avoids errors and is required by the GunFighter companion mod below.
  • Arsenal[26] GunFighter Mod [2.0] (Workshop ID 2297098490, Mod ID Arsenal(26)GunFighter[MAIN MOD 2.0]) - an optional but very common companion that reworks Brita's weapon handling, recoil, and attachments. It requires Brita's Weapon Pack and Mod Options, and it must load after Brita's Weapon Pack. If you add GunFighter, keep Brita's Weapon Pack updated, because GunFighter 2.0 expects the most recent version.

Brita's Armor Pack lists optional night-vision mods in its description for the NVG items to function, but they are not required for the armor itself.

Load order

Load Mod Options first, then Brita's packs, then any patches or companion mods that build on them. A typical order is:

  1. Mod Options (ModOptions)
  2. Brita's Weapon Pack (Brita)
  3. Brita's Armor Pack (Brita_2)
  4. Arsenal[26] GunFighter Mod [2.0] (if used) and any config or balance patches

Server configuration

On a Project Zomboid dedicated server the mods are enabled in two lines of your server's .ini file (commonly servertest.ini, named after the server, not pzserver.ini). WorkshopItems tells the server which Workshop items to download; Mods tells it which Mod IDs to activate, in load order.

Mods= uses semicolons as separators, and WorkshopItems= also uses semicolons. Match the order in both lines.

WorkshopItems=2169435993;2200148440;2460154811 Mods=ModOptions;Brita;Brita_2

With the GunFighter companion mod added:

WorkshopItems=2169435993;2200148440;2460154811;2297098490 Mods=ModOptions;Brita;Brita_2;Arsenal(26)GunFighter[MAIN MOD 2.0]

If you already run other mods, append these to the existing lists rather than replacing them, keeping dependencies before the mods that need them.

Applying the change

  1. Back up your server configuration before editing.
  2. Add the Workshop IDs to WorkshopItems= and the Mod IDs to Mods= as shown above.
  3. Save the configuration.
  4. Restart the server so it downloads the Workshop items and loads the mods.
  5. Watch the server log on startup for any "mod not found" or load-order errors.
  6. Join the server and confirm the new weapons and armor are present.

Brita's Armor Pack is a large download (several gigabytes). The first restart after adding it may take noticeably longer while the server downloads the Workshop content.

Common problems

Items not spawning or mod fails to load

  • Confirm the Mod IDs are exactly Brita and Brita_2 (not Brita_Weapon_Pack or Brita_Armor_Pack, which do not exist).
  • Confirm Mod Options is installed and listed before Brita in the Mods= line.
  • Confirm the server is on Build 41. On Build 42 the mods will not work correctly.
  • Check the server log for the line that reports each mod loading, and look for ID typos.

GunFighter errors

  • GunFighter 2.0 requires the latest Brita's Weapon Pack and Mod Options. Update Brita's Weapon Pack and make sure GunFighter loads after it.
  • Do not run more than one version of GunFighter at once.

Performance

  • These packs add a large number of items. On smaller servers, lower loot spawn rates in Sandbox settings if you see lag or long save times.
